Atlanta – The Standardbred Racehorse Champion
In 2018, the scene at the Hambletonian, one of harness racing's biggest events, was historic. The race for three-year-old trotters witnessed Standardbred mare Atlanta become the first filly in 22 years (and only the 14th in history) to win and clinch the $1 million purse. In recognition of this remarkable achievement, she was awarded the Dan Patch Award for Trotter of the Year in 2018.
Atlanta's remarkable journey did not stop there. At the 2021 Allerage Farms Open Mare Trot at the Red Mile, she once again made history, earning the title of co-fastest female trotter with her incredible 1:49 win, driven by Yannick Gingras.
Owned by Michelle and Albert Crawford of Crawford Farms, LLC, Atlanta was initially trained by Rick Zeron and driven by Scott Zeron, with Ron Burke taking over her training from the age of 4. Retired in 2022 as the 4th richest female trotter with $3.5 million in earnings, Atlanta now focuses on raising the next generation of racing superstars.
Michelle aptly describes Atlanta as a horse with "a heart of gold and determination like no other," truly making her a one-of-a-kind champion.
